Client Overview
Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) is the world's largest oil refining company and China's largest oil products supplier. With 30,000+ service stations across China, Sinopec recognized the need to diversify into EV charging as electric vehicle adoption accelerated.
In 2023, Sinopec launched a strategic initiative to install EV charging infrastructure at high-traffic service stations along major highways and in urban centers. FBK POWER was selected as a key equipment supplier based on our manufacturing capacity, product reliability, and competitive pricing.
The Challenge
Deploying EV charging at 100+ existing service stations presented unique challenges:
Electrical Infrastructure Limitations
Most service stations had limited electrical capacity, requiring transformer upgrades and load management systems.
Space Constraints
Existing stations had limited space for charging equipment while maintaining fueling operations and parking.
Tight Timeline
Sinopec required deployment of all 100+ sites within 6 months to meet government EV infrastructure targets.
Operational Continuity
Charging installation could not disrupt fueling operations, requiring phased construction and night work.
The Solution
FBK POWER developed a comprehensive solution addressing all challenges:
Modular Power Cabinets
Our split-type DC charging cabinets (120-180kW) allowed flexible configuration based on site capacity. Modular design enabled phased power upgrades without full replacement.
Load Management System
Intelligent load balancing across multiple ports prevented grid overload while maximizing charging speed. Real-time monitoring via OCPP 2.0.1 enabled remote diagnostics.
Compact Dispenser Design
Slim-profile dispensers minimized footprint while maintaining cable management and user accessibility. Dual-port dispensers served two parking spaces each.
Implementation Process
Site Assessment (Month 1)
Electrical capacity surveys, space measurements, and traffic flow analysis for all 100+ sites. Identified 85 sites suitable for immediate deployment and 20 requiring electrical upgrades.
Manufacturing & Procurement (Month 1-2)
FBK POWER's 225-acre facility ramped production to deliver 400+ charging ports within 8 weeks. Quality testing included 72-hour burn-in for every unit.
Phased Installation (Month 2-5)
Installation teams worked in parallel across 5 regions, completing 20-25 sites per month. Night work minimized fueling disruption. Each site took 2-3 days for full installation.
Commissioning & Training (Month 5-6)
Each site underwent full testing: power output verification, OCPP network integration, payment system testing, and Sinopec staff training on basic troubleshooting.

Lessons Learned
Modular Design is Essential
Sites with varying electrical capacity required flexible power configurations. Modular cabinets allowed us to deploy 120kW at some sites and 180kW at others using the same base platform.
Remote Monitoring Reduces Costs
OCPP 2.0.1 remote diagnostics enabled us to resolve 80% of issues remotely, reducing truck rolls by 60% and keeping uptime above 97%.
Local Partnerships Accelerate Deployment
Partnering with local electrical contractors in each region reduced installation time by 40% and ensured compliance with local codes.
